Pinterest has announced that it is acquiring the team responsible for Fleksy. Photo sharing the company only has acqui-hire developers and employees behind the keyboard application, and not the technology itself.
Financial details have not been disclosed talent acquisition. Fleksy confirms that the application will continue to exist in the stores app (Android and iOS), but maybe there will not be any updates. The Company has also announced that it will open source some components Fleksy to shift coat of development for the developer community.
"As a tribute to the people outside of our regular users has made the decision to open-source some components Fleksy that the public blind and visually impaired grown to love. We believe you will do great things with it," it was explained in his blog post.
Pinterest confirms that the founder Fleksy Costa Eleftheriou will join a team of product engineering, and nearly half of the employees will be absorbed into the mobile engineering department.
Fleksy launched four years ago in iOS as a standalone keyboard application. It rose to fame for robust error-correcting algorithms, which translates users' movements and taps. This application is embraced by the visually impaired community as it translates muscle memory, and allows the eye-free typing. Fleksy currently available in nearly 40 languages and in Qwerty, Azerty, Qwertz, Dvorak and Colemak layout.
However, the reason behind the interest in employee Fleksy Pinterest is still unknown. Sharing services also recently hired a chief diversity to recruit more women and minorities, such as the industry faced criticism for a lack of representation. It employs Candice Morgan, who previously worked for the diversity of the various company programs' which seeks to expand opportunities for women and business.
